big pollution
big influence
This report finds that the biggest polluters in New York are spending more than ever on lobbyists to try to stall the urgent push for climate legislation in our state. We analyzed hundreds of disclosures filed with the state commission on public ethics (JCOPE) and found that fossil fuel trade groups, large power producers, and utilities now spend $3 million a year on state and local lobbying – even more than they spent trying to prevent New York’s fracking ban in 2013.
