Earth Month Press Conference

The PEAK Coalition and allied partners presented a comprehensive plan for energy reliability and affordability at Pier 4 in Brooklyn Army Terminal, Sunset Park, Brooklyn, on April 16, 2026, at 11:30 am. The plan, delivered to Governor Hochul and the New York State legislature, includes concrete steps that state government and energy companies must take to decouple our grid from the aging, polluting, and expensive peaker plants.

The announcement featured UPROSE, The POINT CDC, NYC Environmental Justice Alliance, NY Lawyers for the Public Interest, New York Battery Energy Storage Consortium, and El Puente of Williamsburg.

The PEAK Coalition envisions an alternative, comprehensive set of solutions that will protect environmental justice communities and increase energy affordability and reliability for all New Yorkers. The proposal includes expanding cost-effective renewable energy projects, the just and expeditious development of energy storage, and investments in demand management and grid flexibility.
